Jermaine Edwards: award wining international gospel performing artiste, song- writer and producer.
Initially face with the choice of giving up gospel for secular music, Jermaine took some time to examine God’s thumbprints on his life. The offer was tempting but he was certain that more than anything else that he wanted to honour God. His decision to commit his talent to spreading the gospel inspired the song ‘Make You Smile’ which won song of the year for Caribbean Gospel Marlin Awards.
Born in St. Andrew on July 22, 1980 to Bishop R.J. Edwards and Pastor Janet Edwards. Jermaine grew up surrounded by Christian teachings. Before he was ten he started playing keyboard at Sunday services and crusades where his father preached. He was later ordained as Minister of Music at Lighthouse Assembly. He also served as a praise and worship leader and choir director. Alongside his brother and sister he was very involved in his parent’s ministry. His stewardship of his church’s music ministry confirmed his musical gifts and he began to explore possibilities in the music ministry.
In 1997, he recorded an album as a member of the gospel group ‘Living Lights’. His first album in 2004 entitled ‘ISLAND WORSHP - A Jamaican Experience’ was a collection of traditional worship songs that were well received by local audiences. This album was followed by ‘ISLAND WORSHIP 2: A Closer Walk’ in 2006, his third album ‘DESTINY’ in 2009, forth album ‘HIDEAWAY’ in 2011 and fifth album ‘DON’T COUNT ME OUT’ in 2014. In 2016 he produced Jamaica’s first compilation gospel album entitled ‘DOMINION’ featuring a number of Jamaican artiste.
He has been a brand ambassador for Digicel for a number of years. Ha also had the opportunity to perform with gospel greats like Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin, Travis Greene, Israel Houghton, JJ Hairston, Ada and Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. He is grateful for every moment but never loses sight of God’s power as he travels far and wide.
Jermaine took on the responsibility of a family at and early age marrying Tracylyn when he was nineteen years old. Together the couple has two daughters; Tehillah and Halil. His family is his greatest achievement.
Jermaine voices, mixes and produces all his songs as well as other projects under his label ISLAND WORSHIP PRODUCTIONS. Jermaine commits to his talents to spreading the gospel and works relentlessly as he focus on his mission and vision his music to gain traction both gospel and secular.
